Welcome to the homepage of the MOBSTER Collaboration!

MOBSTER is an international collaboration of more than 60 scientists who are leveraging photometric data from the Transiting Exoplanet Survey Satellite (TESS) to better characterize and understand magnetic stars in the upper H-R diagram. We also identify new magnetic candidate stars for which spectropolarimetric follow-up observations can be obtained. The MOBSTER collaboration has many ties to the massive star, stellar magnetism, binary, and asteroseismology communities, including working groups 4 (AF stars) and 5 (OB stars) of the TESS Asteroseismic Science Consortium (TASC), and other large collaborations such as MiMeS, BinaMiCS, IACOB, and MUDEHaR.

MOBSTER in the Media

MOBSTER collaboration member Dr. Matt Shultz was recently featured in a UDaily spotlight piece by the University of Delaware for his work revealing the connection between gyrosynchrotron radiation and the rotation rates of magnetic massive stars. Read more in the MOBSTER VI paper here!

MOBSTER VI paper published!

The sixth MOBSTER collaboration paper has been published! MOBSTER – VI. The crucial influence of rotation on the radio magnetospheres of hot starsM. E. Shultz, S. P. Owocki, A. ud-Doula et al., 2022, MNRAS, 513, 1429 In this paper, we address gyrosynchrotron radio emission in magnetic hot stars. We present and analyse an exhaustive list…

MOBSTER-2 Virtual Workshop comes to a close

The MOBSTER-2 Virtual Workshop was held on November 9th and 12th 2021. Following up on last year’s MOBSTER-1 Virtual Conference, we organized a more self-contained virtual workshop reuniting MOBSTER members for two days over the second week of November. In total, 10 presenters gave talks to their fellow MOBSTERs, with a hands-on tutorial given by…
